Steinbeis Advanced Risk Technologies are urgently looking for one or more skilled and motivated professionals for the positions of

Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) Experts
with Power Station experience for RBI implementation in South Africa in Eskom power plants

dealing with:

·         Performing Risk Analyses of power plant systems, generation of reports using a custom RBI software solution

·         Managing a team of 2 RBI engineers/consultants, including the day-by-day management of the team and reporting

·         Dealing and interacting with Eskom counterparts in order to ensure joint work on the project (meetings, interviews, data collected, and discussion of intermediate and final results of the Risk Analyses).

Together with their subcontractor Sebenzana, Steinbeis Advanced Risk Technologies GmbH are providing consultancy services for the development and implementation of an RBI Management System for Eskom Holdings SOC Limited, South Africa, for 13 coal-fired and 1 nuclear power stations (secondary loop). The purpose of the RBI analysis is ensuring the extension of inspection and testing intervals for pressure equipment operating at pressures higher than 50 kPa.

The successful applicants will have at least the M.Sc. degree in engineering or metallurgy, possessing high-level knowledge of RBI methodologies (CWA 15740:2008, VGB-S-506, ASME,…) power plant experience with knowledge of boiler, turbine and common plant systems, knowledge of power plant related degradation and damage mechanisms and readiness to work in an international team of experts in South Africa. The candidate should be fluent in English, basic knowledge of German and/or Afrikaans can be of benefit, but is not essential.

Successful applicants will be offered contracts including competitive salary, reimbursement of local costs (lodging, travel, car rental, food, according to Eskom rules) and coverage of travel costs. The contracts (with a possibility of further extension) will be offered for the following tasks

·         1 contract starting possibly in March 2014 for 11 months (or part of it), for the coal-fired plants

·         1 contract starting possibly in April 2014 for 10 weeks (or part of it), for the nuclear plant
